Horizon Zero Dawn, The Surge 2, and more added to PS Now

A new month begins and that means more games getting added to the PS Now catalogue. Subscribers get six new titles to the service this month with only one listed for a limited time.

The new titles being added include Horizon Zero Dawn, Stranded Deep, Broforce, Wreckfest, The Surge 2, and Darksiders III. Wreckfest will leave the service on Monday, May 31, 2021. Here is a quick breakdown of each game.

Horizon Zero Dawn

This 2017 action role-playing game developed by Guerrilla Games sees the player take control of Aloy, a hunter in a world overrun by machines. Seen as an outcast from her tribe, Aloy embarks on a journey to uncover her past, discover her destiny and stop a catastrophic threat to the future. The critically acclaimed title will be getting a sequel in 2021 titled Horizon Forbidden West. So now might be a great time to tackle the post-apocalyptic world in this title that includes the Frozen Wilds DLC.

Stranded Deep

A survival game first released in January 2015 on PC, finally debuted on the PS4 and Xbox One back in April 2020. Test your survival skills in this open world following a mysterious plane crash over the Pacific Ocean. Without help to get you to safety, you must explore underwater and on land searching for supplies to craft items, weapons and shelter. The game sits at a 64 on metacritic so don’t expect anything amazing, but you can definitely find enjoyment out of it.

Broforce

Bro it up in this side-scrolling run-and-gun platformer where you need to eliminate those who threaten the world. According to Polygon, the game started off as an entry in a game jam development and because of the positive reception, the developers continued working on it. The game features parodies of action movie heroes like Rambo, Mr. T, Chuck Norris, and the Terminator.

Wreckfest: Drive Hard. Die Last.

Wreckfest is available until Monday, May 31, 2021

A spiritual successor to the FlatOut series, this 2019 racing game sees players either race for victory or smash it out in a demolition derby. Drivers will need to balance avoiding debris and opponents while trying to take out the competition to claim victory. Seeing the trailer reminds me all the hours I spent on Test Drive: Eve of Destruction. If it’s even half as fun as that game, this will be a blast to play.

The Surge 2

Already sporting the prequel on PS Now, The Surge 2 takes place in a dystopian future where humans have exhausted the world’s resources leading to mankind being on the brink of extinction. This difficult action RPG will have you facing numerous and ferocious enemies challenging you to survive and unravel the secrets of the world.

Darksiders III

Another action RPG included in the list, this time you take control of Fury, one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Explore the world looking for materials to upgrade Fury and handle the creatures who also grow stronger as you progress. This hack-n-slash game is the sequel to Darksiders II and the first entry in the Darksiders after six years.

Gamers should find a lot to like about the additions this month. I can’t help but feel slightly disappointed though that two of the games are previous PS Plus titles in Darksiders III and Broforce. Not to mention, PlayStation handed out The Surge as a PS Plus title in April 2019. Regardless, the PS Now lineup continues to grow and give a strong reason on why it should be looked at, even if PlayStation isn’t quite ready to put its lineup of games on the service on release date.
