Millions of gamers worldwide say it’s time to duel as Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel tops another milestone.
Publisher and developer Konami announced the free-to-play digital card game topped 10 million downloads. The feat is impressive alone, but even more so when you consider the game released under a month ago for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC. The iOS and Android versions released on January 27 in select countries, with the US version following on February 3.
Gamers appeared to flock to the title following the mobile releases. At that time, Konami announced the game reached four million downloads. That means, over six million downloads took place in the last two weeks. To celebrate the latest milestone, Konami will give away 1,000 gems to all players who log-in to the game between now and March 31.
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Initial Thoughts
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is a great entry into the long-standing card game. The UI looks sleek, the music fits the battles well, and the sound effects make you feel powerful. For those wanting to dive in for the first time, the game features a solo mode to learn the ropes. It not only teaches you the basics of the game, but also lets you experience some of the decks you can make to take to battle.
Those wanting to see what others in the world made can use the public deck search to get your builds going. Players can search by a certain card or use the filters to look for different deck types. Once you feel you are ready, the game features an online system to battle with people across the world. Players can battle it out in ranked or free duels, like casual play. Event duels are listed, but currently one isn’t playable. Those who own PS Plus can get a free 50 Ticket Pack to give your decks a boost. With the game featuring cross-play and cross-progression, gamers can get started on mobile and switch to console or pc with their cards intact.
