Fans who wanted more wall-running, slashing good times following the success of Ghostrunner will be in for a treat.
Publisher 505 Games and developer One More Level announced Ghostrunner 2 is on the way. The title will release for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. A release date for the new title was not announced.
505 Games recently acquired the Ghostrunner IP and announced in today’s press release it will double its investment for the new title at five million Euros, or over $6 million. The publisher describes the IP as a brand with “great potential, capable of contributing for a long time to the 505 Games product portfolio.”
“This new collaboration deepens 505 Games presence within the Polish video game market, a reality now among the firsts in Europe for the development of video games, new projects and talents,” Digital Bros co-CEO Raffaele Galante said.
Ghostrunner launced in October 2020 and has since sold over 600,000 copies with rave reviews. The title holds a Metacritic score of 81. The game is a first-person cyberpunk action platformer where gamers must slash their way through various stages.
I have not played the original myself. However, the raving reviews makes me happy to see another entry is on the way. Too many times games release with audience praise only to never see a sequel. It will be interesting to see the direction One More Level takes in the new entry. One thing’s for sure, the wall-running and slashing stays on during sec-tions.
